Date of Stay - January 8, 2017. Copied from VRBO. Willard F. said: Great house and impossible to beat location. Nice, large kitchen and living room with views out to the ocean. Good beach right across street for swimming and lounging. The road ends not far past house so it is pretty quiet as well. Town is then just a short drive for anything you need. Can't see how you could go wrong staying here. I would and probably will stay here again! If visiting the Big Island this is a the vacation rental to get.

Date of Stay - January 3, 2017. Copied from VRBO. Cathleen R said: My husband and our 4 young adult children stayed at the Hilo house in January. The location and the view was the best part of our stay. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We lucked out and had beautiful sunny weather. Loved watching the waves. Every day we went snorkeling across the street. We brought our water shoes so did not need the ones provided at the house. Hope to visit again.

Date of Stay: April 19, 2016. Maui Lover: Incredible!! That tree in the front yard (probably infamous) was amazing as was the view from the large windows. We knew it was across the street from the ocean but that hidden little 'private' beach was awesome...and perfect for the baby and our elderly mother (path is uneven so she needed help) The house itself was large enough to accommodate the 11 of us(all female!) and the kitchen/bbq was perfect for cooking at 'home' with fresh produce and fish from the markets down the street. There were lots of towels & beach paraphernalia, beds were comfortable(pillows not so much) and the road up the back way for morning walks was a mini vacation in itself! Beautiful! We all enjoyed the spacious living area with the huge opened windows to let the breeze through in the day and the totally awesome sound of the ocean waves and frogs at night! Some of the quaint restaurants in the area were hidden gems! We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere of Hilo and yet it had the comforts of a city--Starbucks, Walmart--when we needed it. And even though we made a few day trips to enjoy the island, we loved just hanging around our own little neighbourhood!! The locals are great. Our trip and stay was a definite I'll-be-back kinda one. Have I said incredible yet??

Date of Stay April 4, 2016 Copied from VRBO: Our time at this property was great! There's a beautiful view of the Waiuli Beach Park from the houses living room. We snorkled at the Richardon Beach where we saw turtles, reef fish, octopus and a local spear fishing for his dinner that night. Home came stocked with ocean toys to use along with fins and masks.Upon arrival we were surprised to find a bouquet of fresh tropical flowers on the kitchen table. What a nice way to say welcome to Hilo.Nice touch! The large Monkee Pod Tree in front of the house is beautiful as is the property itself. Richard is responsive to any concerns, and even was able to forward my wife's kindle she left behind to our home in Illinois.

Date of Stay September 30, 2015 Copied from VRBO: The ocean front view from this vacation rental was amazing! We enjoyed the black sand beach and swimming with turtles at the beach parks just across the street. The house comes with every beach accessory imaginable including kayak, paddle boards and even water shoes to make day trips to the beach easy and carefree. Cool ocean breezes keep the house comfortable day and night. The house sleeps 8 easily so next time we will take the whole family! I would recommend this house to anyone planning a big family gathering.

Date of Stay July 24, 2015 Copied from VRBO: Home is perfectly situated near great snorkeling and picnic area. All the comforts of home with living areas large enough to hold 3 families for bonding time. Front lawn looks over the water and is a perfect area to barbecue (or dance in the rain during the evening down pour!). Teenagers loved the kayaks, paddle board and water exploration. Safe, fun and comfortable!

Date of Stay July 15, 2015 Copied from VRBO: We were a group of 9, including 4 grandkids ranging from 2 to 7. This place was perfect. The kids had a great time inside and out. The large grounds around the house made a wonderful playground and the water right across the street was great. There were many safe tidepools for them to swim in. We saw turtles basking on the rocks and for the adults, the snorkeling at Richardson's was great. The location is close enough to town when you want to shop or go out to lunch. As soon as it was dark, the kids were all outside with flashlights hunting for coqui frogs. The house itself offers everything you could need and the washer and dryer were extremely useful. Great memories for all of us!

Date of Stay May 14, 2015 Copied from VRBO: This house could not have been more perfect for our family ... plenty of room for everyone to spread out, gather, eat and celebrate a great occasion. Being right across from the ocean we not only had gorgeous views but easy access to the water. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Hilo.

Date of Stay January 2, 2015 Copied from VRBO: just wanted to say thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. We enjoyed our stay very much, and found it very relaxing. It had everything anyone could want and we enjoyed the location very much. It was a great base from which to explore all the eastern island sites. There were large turtles in the tidepools right across the street. Fantastic! We would love to come again sometime.

Date of Stay October 2, 2014 Copied from VRBO: The house and location were absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed the Hilo area because it allowed us to experience the real, non-tourist Hawaii. If you want a fancy condo, don't choose this house, but if you want a family friendly, peaceful beach experience, this is it. The owner was great to work with and everything we needed was there.
